A note from our Commodore
The Rome Sailing Club
Welcome to the "Best Kept Secret" in Northeast Alabama, we originated in Rome, GA over 55 years ago. The Rome Sailing Club moved to a larger body of water and better conditions on beautiful Weiss Lake in Leesburg, Alabama.  Our Club has over 60 boat slips, an over the water gazebo, large covered BBQ area, multiple decks, club house, bathing facilities, kitchen and dining facilities, as well as boat lift available to all our members.

We have all types of sailboats ranging in size from 16 to 30 feet.  We have in water slips, a dry sailing parking area, and trailer storage parking.  Rome Sailing Club is a sailboat only club,  with only one exception, the Race Committee pontoon boat for race day!

Our social activities like our annual Commodore's Ball, Fish Fry, Steak Cook-Out, and the Low Country Boil are as good as our racing.  We hold three race series per year (Spring, Summer and Fall).  Each series includes many races over one or many weekends.  In addition, the Rome Sailing Club sponsors Weiss Lake DIYRA Regatta in late August that draws racers come from all over the Southeast.

Call us to schedule your visit.  We think you will like what you see!

About The Rome Sailing Club

The Rome Sailing Club began in 1955 with only five sailors at Garden Lakes

in Rome, Georgia. The club has grown to over 75 family memberships on
Weiss Lake near Leesburg, Alabama - less than an hours drive
from downtown Rome.

About half of the club's members still reside in Rome, the remaining number come from as far away as Atlanta, Birmingham and Chattanooga.  Ages range from teenagers on up. The club does not lack in diversity, there are many unique and talented individuals who have lived in and traveled to many places.

Each member brings something special to the club to share; we all benefit from each other.

The Rome Sailing Club has wet slips and drydock facilities for your boat and trailer.  Our fleet of day sailors and crusiers alike have access to water year round.  Our club is home to the Catalina 22 Fleet 134.

We hold many club races and regattas throughout the year. Our club memebers attend races area wide and sometimes further, and members attend cruses at other clubs as well.  We have several club sponsered events, social gatherings and cookouts that keep the sail club a vibrant place to be.
